Fake cosmetics racket busted, 4 held

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted a large counterfeit cosmetics manufacturing unit in the capital and arrested four persons, including the alleged kingpin, in connection with the illegal production and supply of fake branded products.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Delhi, Harsh Indora, said the operation led to the seizure of over 20,000 counterfeit items, including filled tubes, packed products, raw materials, and packaging equipment. “This action dismantled an organised network involved in manufacturing and distributing fake cosmetic products. We have recovered a large quantity of counterfeit goods and arrested the key accused involved in the racket,” he said.
The accused have been identified as Neeraj Gupta, the alleged mastermind, along with his associates Ravi, Suresh Kumar Rajput, and Dinesh Chandra Sati. All four were actively involved in manufacturing, packaging, and distributing counterfeit versions of Veet Hair Removal Cream in local markets.
Police said the racket was operating from an illegal manufacturing unit in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar in the Badli area of Delhi. The unit was unearthed during a raid conducted on April 6 following a complaint from an authorised representative of Reckitt Benckiser India Pvt Ltd regarding the sale of fake products under its brand name.
A team of the Crime Branch carried out the operation under the supervision of senior officers after receiving specific intelligence inputs. During the raid, the police found a fully operational setup where counterfeit cosmetic products were being produced using substandard materials and packed in fake branding designed to resemble original products.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Copyright Act at the Crime Branch police station. Officials said the accused were engaged in large-scale manufacturing and distribution of fake goods, causing financial loss to the original company and posing potential health risks to consumers.
