Elderly man killed, 10 injured as BEST bus crashes into divider in Mumbai

A 65-year-old man lost his life and 10 others were injured after a BEST bus crashed into a roadside divider on the Sion-Panvel Highway in Mumbai's Mankhurd area on Monday morning. The accident took place near Vishwakarma Hospital at around 8:30 am, triggering a swift emergency response from police and civic authorities.
According to officials, the victim was standing near the roadside divider when the bus lost control and rammed into it. The impact left several passengers, including the bus driver and conductor, injured. All the injured were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment, where the elderly man was declared dead on arrival.
The bus was part of the BEST fleet but operated by a private wet-lease contractor. Preliminary reports suggest that authorities are investigating the exact cause of the crash.
The incident comes amid growing concerns over a series of recent accidents involving BEST buses in Mumbai. Police have launched an investigation to determine whether mechanical failure, driver error, or any other factor led to the accident. Officials have assured that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
