DWCD, Sangath organise orientation, felicitation programme under NAMASTE initiative

The Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD), Government of NCT of Delhi, in collaboration with Sangath, successfully organised an orientation and felicitation programme under the NAMASTE (Neurodevelopment and Autism in South Asia: Treatment and Evidence) Programme, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening Early Childhood Development (ECD) services across the National Capital Territory.

The programme focused on promoting the early identification and timely intervention for children with developmental delays and disabilities through a community-based screening approach. The initiative aims to equip frontline functionaries with the knowledge and skills required to identify developmental concerns at an early stage, ensuring timely referral, intervention, and improved developmental outcomes for children.

The orientation session sensitised Anganwadi functionaries and supervisory staff on the objectives, implementation framework, and significance of the NAMASTE Programme. The initiative is expected to further strengthen community-based early childhood services by enhancing the capacity of frontline workers and improving access to developmental support for children and their families.

The event was graced by Rashmi Singh, secretary, Department of Women and Child Development, Government of NCT of Delhi, who commended the dedication and tireless efforts of the field functionaries in delivering quality early childhood development services. Addressing the gathering, she emphasised the importance of early screening, timely intervention, and coordinated community-based action in ensuring the holistic development of every child.

During the ceremony, the Secretary felicitated Sadhana Singh, District Officer, East District; Abhishek Singh, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO); Sandeep, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO); Rahul Verma, District Coordinator, East District; all supervisors of East District; and the best-performing Anganwadi workers of East District in recognition of their exemplary dedication, unwavering commitment, and outstanding contribution towards the successful implementation of the NAMASTE Programme.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by the department and its field functionaries to strengthen inclusive, community-based early childhood development services through sustained capacity building, effective implementation, and collaborative efforts.

The recognition of outstanding performers served as an inspiration for all Anganwadi functionaries to continue their dedicated service towards ensuring the holistic growth, development, and well-being of children across East District.
