Despite AAP criticism over Video, Harbhajan shares another clip, Party slams ex-cricketer
Despite facing criticism from AAP leaders over sharing a video of two “intoxicated” men, BJP MP Harbhajan Singh on Tuesday shared another clip claiming it was from Punjab, asking the AAP Government to focus on tackling the drug menace instead of pulling each other down.
In the latest video, a compilation of separate clips, a few men could be seen standing motionless, with Singh targeting the AAP Government over the drug scourge.
“Are these also pictures from Rajasthan? The issue is Punjab’s drug problem. Your paid troll won’t be able to hide this issue. Work will have to be done on this. Running away from responsibilities will not solve the problem,” the Rajya Sabha MP said in the post.
He added, “This is not about targeting any particular individual. For anyone in Punjab and across the entire country who consumes narcotic substances, whatever efforts are made to free them from addiction should be carried out. Instead of pulling each other down, the Punjab Government should work on how to make Punjab drug-free.”
The former cricketer on Monday night shared a video clip of two apparently intoxicated men with the caption that Punjab’s youth deserved better but was called out for it by AAP leaders and Punjab Police who said it was from Rajasthan and he was peddling BJP’s lies. The purported video showed two men standing in a weird motionless state on a road. It was widely shared on social media and several users said the men were under the influence of a “zombie drug”.
Sharing the video on X on Monday night, Singh wrote, “Very sad to see the situation of Punjab”.
“Punjab and its youth deserve better. This issue needs honesty, accountability, and urgent action - not denial,” said Singh on X. “What have the Governments done to Punjab and its Punjabi youth? Where have they brought Punjab to? The Punjab that was once known for its high spirits, courage and bravery, today that same Punjab’s youth has been engulfed by drugs. There is still time... Save my Punjab,” said Singh, who quit AAP and joined the BJP in April.
Singh came under attack from Kejriwal and Punjab ministers for sharing the purported video.
Kejriwal said, “Many BJP people spread this lie together yesterday. Did the order come from the PMO? Does the PMO spread lies in the country?” Slamming Singh for the video clip, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema accused the former cricketer of “peddling BJP’s lies” and demanded an apology from him.
Cheema said when Singh was in AAP, he never raised an issue concerning Punjab’s youths in Parliament and always remained “mum”.
