Delhi: Minor girl raped and killed; accused arrested

In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly abducted while sleeping beside her family on a pavement in Delhi’s Mehrauli area, sexually assaulted, and then strangled to death.

The police have arrested the accused, a 30-year-old cab driver identified as Bashu, within six hours of the crime being reported. According to officials, the accused dumped the child’s body in a dense, forested stretch along the Faridabad-Gurugram Road in a desperate attempt to conceal the crime.

The tragedy came to light in the early hours of Monday when the victim’s family woke up and discovered the girl was missing from her usual spot on the footpath. Sensing foul play and suspecting kidnapping, the frantic family members alerted the local police.
