Delhi LG clears land for 150+ borewells, new Metro depot to fast-track infrastructure projects

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has approved a series of long-pending land allotments to accelerate key infrastructure and public welfare projects across the national capital, including the construction of more than 150 borewells and a new Delhi Metro depot. The decisions are aimed at removing administrative bottlenecks that had delayed several essential civic projects.
According to the Raj Niwas, the approvals cover land transfers required for projects related to water supply, public transport, power infrastructure and other public utilities. More than 150 borewells have been cleared to strengthen Delhi's groundwater-based drinking water infrastructure, while land has also been allotted for a new Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) depot to support the expanding Metro network.
The Lieutenant Governor also approved several proposals involving the transfer of land between government departments, enabling stalled projects to move forward without further delay. Officials said the decisions are expected to improve coordination among agencies and ensure faster implementation of infrastructure works benefiting residents across Delhi.
The clearances are part of a broader effort to expedite pending development and welfare initiatives by resolving land-related issues that have held up execution for years. The Raj Niwas said the approvals would facilitate quicker delivery of public services and strengthen Delhi's urban infrastructure.
