Delhi inaugurates first full-fledged Women Police Station to strengthen women's safety

The national capital marked a significant step towards gender-sensitive policing with the inauguration of its first full-fledged women police station in the Subzi Mandi area of North Delhi.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu inaugurated the facility in the presence of Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha. The police station has been established with the objective of enhancing women's safety and ensuring more effective handling of crimes against women.
Officials said the station is the first in Delhi to be staffed entirely by women personnel, including investigating officers and support staff. The initiative is aimed at creating a more accessible and supportive environment for women seeking police assistance.
The police station will focus on the prevention, investigation and redressal of crimes such as domestic violence, sexual harassment, stalking, assault and other offences targeting women. Authorities believe the specialised setup will encourage more victims to report crimes and seek legal support.
In addition to law enforcement functions, the station will organise awareness campaigns, counselling services and community outreach programmes to educate women about their rights and available legal remedies.
Officials described the launch as an important milestone in strengthening women-centric policing and improving public confidence in the criminal justice system.
