Defence Minister Rajnath Singh releases DFPDS-2026, boosts Armed Forces’ ₹1.25 Lakh Crore Procurement Power

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday released the Defence Procurement and Financial Delegation System (DFPDS)-2026, significantly enhancing the financial powers of the Armed Forces by enabling faster and decentralised procurement decisions worth over ₹1.25 lakh crore.
The new framework is aimed at streamlining defence acquisitions, improving operational readiness, and reducing delays in the procurement cycle by empowering service headquarters with greater financial autonomy.
Officials said the revised system will allow the Army, Navy, and Air Force to take quicker decisions on capital and revenue procurement within an enhanced delegated financial limit, strengthening India’s push for defence modernisation and self-reliance.
The announcement comes amid a broader push by the government to accelerate defence reforms and modernise the Armed Forces with advanced equipment and faster acquisition mechanisms.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building a “future-ready, agile and self-reliant” military structure capable of responding swiftly to emerging security challenges.
