Congress functionary robbed, stabbed to death in Chhattisgarh
A Congress functionary was stabbed to death by unidentified persons while allegedly resisting a robbery in Chhattisgarh's Durg district, police said on Tuesday, August 4.
The incident took place around 2 am on Monday, August 3, near Chikhli village on the Durg-Dhamdha road, an official said.
He said that the victim, Prakash Singh Kashyap (45), a treasurer of the Congress's local unit, was travelling to his house in Tumkala village with two of his associates on a motorcycle when four assailants intercepted them.
They threatened the trio with a knife and robbed Kashyap of his mobile phone and Rs 4,000 in cash, the official said.
When Kashyap resisted, the attackers allegedly stabbed him before fleeing the spot, he said.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, the official said.
A case of murder and robbery has been registered against unidentified persons at the Javra Sirsa police chowki, and a probe has been launched to trace them, he added.
