CM Rekha travels in DTC bus, reviews Saheli Pink NCMC Card system

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta travelled in a Delhi Transport Corporation bus on Saturday to review the functioning of the Saheli Pink NCMC Card and assess how the system is working on the ground.
During the ride, the Chief Minister used the card herself and observed the process followed by passengers while boarding the bus. Officials said the visit was aimed at understanding the passenger experience and ensuring that the facility works smoothly for women commuters across the city.
According to the Government, the Saheli Pink NCMC card allows women to travel free of cost on DTC buses through a simple tap-based system. As passengers board the bus, they only need to tap their card on the electronic machine installed near the entrance. The journey is instantly registered in the system.
Officials said the process is designed to be quick, transparent and convenient for passengers. The card is based on the National Common Mobility Card system, which enables contactless travel and digital recording of trips.
During her bus journey, the Chief Minister interacted with passengers and observed the functioning of the ticketing system. She said the initiative aims to make public transport more accessible and convenient for women in the national Capital.
The Chief Minister said the facility is especially designed for women, including mothers, daughters and working professionals who rely on public transport for their daily travel. The CM noted that the card system helps simplify the process of availing free bus travel while ensuring transparency in ticketing records.
Government officials said the Saheli Pink NCMC card is being issued free of cost to women at several designated centres across Delhi. To obtain the card, applicants are required to complete a registration process using their Aadhaar number and mobile number.
Once registered, women passengers can use the card to access free travel on DTC buses across the city. Authorities said the initiative is expected to improve convenience for women commuters and encourage greater use of public transport.
The Government has appealed to women across Delhi to get the card issued and make use of the facility. Officials said the system has been introduced to streamline the free travel scheme and ensure that passengers can access it through a simple digital process.
Transport department officials added that the card system is part of broader efforts to modernise ticketing and mobility services in Delhi’s public transport network. By adopting contactless smart card technology, authorities aim to make bus travel faster and more efficient for passengers.
The Chief Minister also urged women commuters to register for the Saheli Pink NCMC card and take advantage of the facility. She said expanding the use of digital ticketing systems will help improve service delivery while making daily travel more convenient for thousands of women using DTC buses across the Capital.
