CM Rekha lays foundation for foot overbridge at Monastery Market

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday laid the foundation of a foot overbridge (FOB) at Monastery Market near the Kashmere Gate ISBT in North Delhi. The area is home to a large number of families from Ladakh. The structure will be designed to reflect the culture and traditions of Ladakh.
At a ceremony to lay the foundation of the foot overbridge (FOB), the chief minister said that the design of the bridge has been developed keeping Ladakhi architectural elements in mind, so that the structure not only provides modern facilities but also reflects the cultural identity and traditions of the area. She added that lifts will also be installed on the bridge to provide special convenience to the elderly, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women.
She said the Delhi Government respects all residents, including those from different States living in the national Capital. The Chief Minister said that the project marks an important step towards fulfilling a long-standing demand of local residents.
She noted that the bridge will enable citizens visiting Ladakh Budh Vihar and the Monastery Market to cross the road safely, making the area more convenient and secure.
Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, Delhi Cabinet Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh, and other dignitaries were also present at the event.
The chief minister said that India has always followed the “Live and let Live” approach and has never initiated strikes against any country except in self-defence.
“The world today needs to remember the message of peace of Mahatma Buddha. While there is terror in the world, our country remains peaceful. India has always moved forward with the principle of “Vasudev Kutum kambh”. We have never attacked any other country. If we have picked up weapons, it was only to defend ourselves, the chief minister said. She said the Public Works Department is constructing the FOB at a cost of Rs 3 crore. The structure will be designed to reflect the culture and traditions of Ladakh. “Families from Ladakh have settled here for several years. We are one family.
People from different States and regions live in Delhi, and the Government has respect for all of them,” she added. Criticising the previous Government, Gupta alleged that the former Government prioritised “vote banks” over public welfare. She specifically named former CM Arvind Kejriwal, stating that his mindset hindered development.
The chief minister added that the current Government intends to develop infrastructure in every corner of the city to ensure better facilities for every family.
On the occasion, PWD Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh stated that the construction of this foot overbridge in the Ladakh Budh Vihar area is an important step towards ensuring the safety and convenience of residents.
