CM Rekha Gupta votes at Shalimar Bagh

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday cast her vote for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bye-elections and urged citizens to participate in large numbers, calling voting a democratic duty that strengthens governance and development.
Gupta, who voted at her local booth along with her family, described the act as fulfilling her “democratic responsibility”.
“Voting is an integral part of the sacred process of our democracy, and our active participation further strengthens democratic values,” she said in a post on X in Hindi.
Highlighting that bypolls are being held in 12 wards of the city, she appealed to all eligible voters to reach polling stations without fail.
“Each of your votes plays a decisive role not only in determining the direction of local governance but also in laying a strong foundation for the overall development of Delhi, good governance, and transparency,” she said.
Speaking to journalists after the conclusion of voting on Sunday, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said that for the first time, by-elections were held simultaneously in 12 municipal wards in Delhi, creating an entirely new situation.
He said that generally, the voter turnout in local elections in Delhi is low, and the same trend was seen today in the municipal by-elections.
However, being an organisation-driven party proved beneficial for the BJP because in all wards, people were seen visiting BJP booths to get their voter slips made.
The Delhi BJP President said that during the voting, he personally visited 7 wards, and based on the feedback received from workers from other places as well, he can say that the BJP’s performance in these municipal by-elections will be excellent.
AAP National Convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a tweet in Hindi, said, “Today, voting is taking place in Delhi for the MCD by-elections. I humbly appeal to all voters in the wards where voting is happening to definitely use their vote.”
