CM Rekha Gupta launches Green Drive portal

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday launched the Green Drive Portal at greendrive.delhivanmahotsav.in. The portal is a digital platform through which citizens can book plantation slots, request free sapling delivery to their homes or institutions, and register as Green Warriors. The platform was launched ahead of the Ridge Forest Restoration Programme to be formally inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in July with a target of planting 70 lakh saplings across the Capital.
The portal was launched at a programme organised by the Department of Environment, Forest and Wildlife. A large number of Delhi Green Warriors attended and pledged to carry the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign message to every household.
The portal offers four services at no cost to citizens. The first is plantation slot booking, which allows residents to select a preferred location and time for plantation activities. The second is a Vriksh Rath facility, through which individuals, schools, offices, RWAs, and housing societies that have space for plantation can request the Delhi Government to deliver free saplings directly to their premises. The third is a nursery locator to help citizens find their nearest Government nursery and collect free saplings. The fourth is an Environment Saviour registration option through which anyone can become a formally registered Green Warrior and remain connected with the Government’s environmental initiatives year-round.
On the Ridge Forest Restoration Programme, the Chief Minister said Amit Shah will inaugurate the drive in July and will undertake plantation activities at Ridge locations spanning Delhi from north to south. Under the programme, 70 lakh saplings will be planted across Delhi.
The plantation will follow a three-tier forest structure designed to strengthen biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and soil conservation in the Ridge area.
Native and long-living species to be planted include Peepal, Banyan, Gular, Neem, Arjun, and Jamun. The Government also plans to develop 100 Oxygen Parks across the city. During the inauguration event, 300 new electric buses and buses on new inter-state routes will also be flagged off.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the Green Drive Portal has categorised plantation sites across all 70 Assembly constituencies, allowing citizens to book slots by constituency or location at their convenience. He added that the campaign extends beyond designated plantation sites to encourage greening of homes, educational institutions, and rooftop gardens wherever space allows.
