CM pushes strict timelines for projects

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday directed all departments to ensure time-bound completion of development works announced in the 2026-27 Budget, warning against delays and calling for strict monitoring through the CM Pragati Portal.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, the Chief Minister emphasised that execution and visible results are now critical to achieving the goal of a developed Delhi. She asked departments to move with urgency and accountability to deliver projects on schedule. “Timely execution is key to accelerating Delhi’s development. The Pragati Portal will enable continuous monitoring and ensure transparency in implementation,” the CM said during the meeting.
The meeting was attended by administrative secretaries, heads of departments, and Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma. Officials reviewed the progress and timelines of major projects and were instructed to follow clear action plans.
A key focus of the meeting was the use of the CM Pragati Portal for real-time tracking of development works. The Chief Minister directed departments to upload regular updates on progress, timelines, and upcoming milestones. This, she said, would allow close supervision and early identification of delays.
Officials have been asked to set short-term targets ranging from 15 days to one month and report progress accordingly. The approach is aimed at ensuring continuous monitoring and quick corrective action wherever required.
The Chief Minister sent a strong message on accountability, stating that delays in project execution will not be tolerated. She directed departments to define clear goals and adhere strictly to timelines from the initial stages. She said the entire project cycle, including tendering, commencement, and completion, must follow a pre-defined schedule. Any bottlenecks should be escalated immediately instead of allowing projects to remain pending.
The Chief Minister also stressed that departmental performance will be assessed based on outcomes. She urged officials to adopt a results-oriented approach and ensure that projects are completed within the stipulated time frame. Highlighting the need for coordination, the Chief Minister asked departments to work in a synchronised manner. She said projects should be executed in parallel so that delays in one area do not affect others. She also called for efficient use of resources and a structured implementation strategy. Departments were directed to follow phased execution plans and ensure optimal utilisation of budgetary allocations. The Chief Minister said the Government aims to complete all major projects before 2029. She instructed departments to clearly define timelines for each project, irrespective of size, and ensure steady progress.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of leveraging funds and schemes from the Central Government. She said better performance and efficient execution would help Delhi access more resources and accelerate development. Officials were asked to review their targets and action plans and move forward with greater focus.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that with strong intent and coordination, Delhi can be transformed into a modern and well-equipped city.
The meeting concluded with directions for sustained monitoring and regular reviews to ensure that development works progress without delays.
