CM outlines vision to position city as global hub for trade, industry

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday outlined an ambitious vision to position the national Capital as a global hub for trade and industry. She stressed responsible and sustainable growth at the 12th International Plastindia 2026 exhibition at Bharat Mandapam.
Addressing industry leaders and entrepreneurs, she said plastic must be transformed “from a problem into a solution” through innovation, recycling and a circular economy approach.
The Chief Minister visited several stalls at the exhibition and reviewed new technologies in plastic manufacturing, recycling and waste management. She said the Delhi government is taking concrete steps to strengthen industry and entrepreneurship, with a focus on balancing economic growth and environmental responsibility. “Delhi must emerge not only as a consumption centre but also as a recognised trading and distribution hub,” she said.
Highlighting support for small businesses, the Chief Minister said the Delhi government is providing collateral-free loans of up to Rs 10 crore to empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The initiative, she said, is aimed at improving access to finance and encouraging innovation-driven enterprises, particularly in sectors linked to sustainability and clean technologies.
