CM hails SC’s order on SIR

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday hailed the Supreme Court’s order on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, saying it demolished the agenda of the Congress and other opposition parties to cover up their political “incompetence” by spreading “lies and rumours” and resorting to “mud-slinging” of constitutional bodies.

Delivering a major victory for the Election Commission, the Supreme Court earlier in the day upheld its power to conduct the SIR of voter rolls and said the exercise “breathes life” into the constitutional mandate for fair elections.
