CM distributes LPG connections

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday distributed LPG connections to women beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) at a special programme in the Wazirpur area.
She said the scheme marked not just a welfare benefit but the beginning of a brighter, healthier life, describing it as a significant step for women’s well-being and environmental protection. The distribution, she added, was a decisive measure to strengthen women’s dignity, health and future security.
The Chief Minister said the Ujjwala Yojana had enabled more than 2.5 lakh families in Delhi to access smoke-free kitchens. The initiative went far beyond a simple shift in fuel, she noted, calling it a transformative reform aimed at improving women’s health, reducing pollution and enhancing dignity within the home.
The scheme has encouraged households to adopt LPG in place of wood, coal and dung-based fuels, the Chief Minister said. She added that the Delhi government was working swiftly to eliminate pollution caused by traditional cooking methods and that ensuring LPG access in every household was both a step towards safeguarding women’s health and a mission to move the Capital towards cleaner air and a pollution-free future.
The chief minister said the new LPG connections and cylinders provided under the Ujjwala Yojana would give homemakers relief from kitchen smoke, creating safer homes and a healthier environment. The initiative, she said, would make a significant contribution to reducing indoor air pollution and help Delhi move towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.
She congratulated all beneficiaries and assured them that, where connections were still pending, lists were being prepared so that every eligible family received the benefits of the Ujjwala scheme.
