CM directs officials to take action on civic grievances

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday directed officials to take immediate action on a wide range of civic grievances after personally hearing residents during a public hearing at the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan. The complaints related to education, healthcare services, pensions, damaged roads, waterlogging, and sanitation dominated the representations made by residents from different parts of the Capital.
The Chief Minister interacted with people, examined written petitions, and instructed senior officials from the concerned departments to resolve issues without delay. She warned that negligence or inaction on complaints raised during the public hearing would not be tolerated.
Addressing officials present at the venue, the Chief Minister stressed that public hearings were not a formality but a core instrument of governance. She said that when grievances are placed directly before the government and acted upon promptly, it strengthens public trust and improves administrative accountability.
Residents raised issues ranging from delays in pension disbursal and poor road conditions to recurring waterlogging and sanitation gaps in their neighbourhoods. Several citizens also flagged concerns related to access to healthcare facilities and problems faced by students in government schools. Officials were asked to note each case and ensure follow-up action at the departmental level.
The Chief Minister reiterated that governance must be citizen-centric. “People come first: serving them is our mission,” she said, adding that listening to citizens directly helps the government understand ground realities and correct gaps in implementation. She said public confidence grows when citizens see their concerns addressed without bureaucratic hurdles.
A significant part of the interaction also saw women and middle-class families expressing appreciation for the Delhi government’s decision to provide financial support for free LPG cylinders during Holi and Diwali. Women from several Assembly constituencies said the scheme would offer meaningful relief at a time when household expenses were rising and would help families celebrate festivals with dignity.
