CM Chandrababu Naidu announces cash incentives for families with more children

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced financial incentives for families having more children as part of the state’s efforts to address declining population growth. Under the new proposal, families will receive ₹30,000 for the birth of a third child and ₹40,000 for a fourth child.
The Chief Minister said further details about the scheme will be shared in the coming weeks.
The announcement was made during a public event in Andhra Pradesh, where Naidu highlighted concerns about falling birth rates and changing family trends.
He stated that rising incomes and lifestyle changes have led many families to choose fewer children, which could create long-term demographic challenges.
The initiative is part of a broader population strategy aimed at balancing future workforce needs and addressing concerns related to an ageing population.
The move has also sparked public discussion, with supporters calling it a proactive step while others have raised questions about its long-term impact and implementation.
