CM calls Govt’s first anniversary emotionally charged milestone
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said the completion of one year of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in the national Capital was not merely a political milestone but an emotionally charged moment shaped by struggle, trust and a commitment to service.
She described the formation of a BJP Government in Delhi in 2025 after 27 years as a victory of public aspirations, adding that this mandate represented not just a change in power but a decisive shift in the direction of development.
Rekha Gupta noted that strong coordination between the Central and Delhi Governments, along with a sound financial framework, has given new momentum to infrastructure development in the Capital.
Referring to flyovers, roads, metro expansion and the large fleet of electric buses, she said Delhi is steadily moving towards a modern, clean and environmentally sustainable future.
Rekha Gupta made these assertions after inaugurating a new development chapter in her Assembly constituency, Shalimar Bagh.
While launching several public welfare projects at the District Park in Pitampura and addressing residents, her words reflected not just achievements but deep emotion and personal warmth. The Chief Minister also presented a detailed report card of development works undertaken in the constituency.
Recalling memories from her childhood, Rekha Gupta said a simple girl travelling from Tri Nagar to Pitampura could never have imagined that those very streets would one day give her the highest opportunity to serve Delhi.
Memories of her school and college days, the bustle of local markets and the close-knit warmth of neighbourhood life repeatedly moved her as she spoke. She said that becoming the MLA of the area that shaped her childhood, identity and values and later its Chief Minister was the result of divine grace and the people’s love.
Referring to her long political journey, Rekha Gupta said electoral defeats never held her back, because her relationship with the people has always been built on trust, not on position.
Sharing the report card of the past year, the Chief Minister stated that development works worth nearly Rs 250 crore have been initiated or completed in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency alone, while large-scale projects amounting to several thousand crore rupees are underway.
She linked the redevelopment of the District Park, new gates, fountains, toilets, footpaths and civic amenities to the dignity of the area and the everyday happiness of its residents.
She described upcoming initiatives such as the proposed Rs 5,000 crore elevated road along the Munak Canal, canal-side beautification and Chhath ghats, a modern auditorium, model schools, new community halls, an expanded Ayurvedic hospital, upgraded mother-and-child care centres and new sports complexes as historic steps connected to the future of coming generations.
She also termed the extensive improvement of roads, drains, street lighting, parks and markets as development that truly reaches every household.
Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi her source of inspiration, the Chief Minister said his work ethic and energy constantly motivate her to serve. She emphasised that this journey goes beyond development schemes; it is a collective effort driven by public trust, the dedication of party workers and shared resolve.
In the closing moments of her address, Rekha Gupta grew deeply emotional. Calling the residents of the area her family, she said even after becoming the Chief Minister, her identity in Shalimar Bagh would always remain that of a sister, a daughter and a neighbour.
Reaffirming her commitment to new schemes, continuous inaugurations and accelerated development in the days ahead, she said this journey has only just begun.
Expressing gratitude to citizens, party workers and colleagues, she concluded by saying that the people’s love is her greatest strength, and with this trust, the resolve to build a developed, compassionate and proud Delhi will continue to move forward.
