CBI registers FIR into death of Sushant Singh Rajput's former manager Disha Salian

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in connection with the death of Disha Salian, who had briefly worked as late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's manager, officials said on Monday.

The development comes days after the Bombay High Court directed the CBI to investigate Salian's death and criticised Mumbai Police for not registering an FIR for six years. The court observed that the police investigation "raises more questions than answers".

The court also pointed to "glaring discrepancies" in the probe and questioned the decision to treat the case solely as an accidental death for six years.

Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case.

Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020, six days after Salian's death, leading to speculation about a possible connection between the two cases.

Following the controversy surrounding Rajput's death, the Maharashtra government ordered a CBI investigation. The agency later filed a closure report concluding that Rajput had died by suicide. The report is yet to be taken up by the concerned court.  (with inputs from PTI)
