Bio-pharma manufacturing to get a boost

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister CM Samrat Chaudhary on Sunday hailed the Union Budget (2026-27) presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha and termed it as “a historic step towards making India a global Bio-Pharma manufacturing hub”. Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday proposed INR 10,000 crore investment in the biopharma sector over the next five years, a move which would give a boost to the country’s pharmaceuticals industry. Biopharmaceuticals, or biologics, are complex medicines manufactured from living organisms, cells, or tissues rather than through chemical synthesis.
Industrial growth to be faster, says Murugan

Chennai: Union Minister L Murugan on Sunday said the budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was transformative and would accelerate industrial growth and power the country’s journey towards a “resilient and Viksit Bharat.” To strengthen manufacturing in strategic and frontier sectors, Union FM Sitharaman has proposed transformative initiatives in the budget 2026, including Biopharma SHAKTI, India semiconductor mission 2.0, electronics components manufacturing scheme, dedicated rare earth corridors in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, Murugan pointed out.
No benefit for Karnataka, feelsDK Shivakumar

Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday said that there was no benefit for the state from the union budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament. "There is no benefit for our state from the central budget. I was observing it. They have named a programme after Mahatma Gandhi now (after repealing the MGNREGA act that was named after Gandhi) ," Shivakumar said. Speaking to reporters here, he demanded that the MGNREGA act be restored, as he also made it clear that the new rural employment legislation — VB-G RAM G — that has been enacted with a 60:40 percent fund sharing formula between the Centre and state governments, cannot be implemented.
Lives of poor, farmers to be better: Champai

Jamshedpur: Former Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren on Sunday welcomed the Union Budget, saying it would improve the standard of living of the poor, labourers, farmers, women and students. The comprehensive, all-encompassing and inclusive budget will serve as the blueprint for the Modi government's visionary approach towards building a developed India, Soren posted on X. “This Budget will improve the standard of living of the poor, labourers, farmers, women, students and ordinary people. It will enhance people's capabilities and provide adequate resources and opportunities for earning to every family” Soren said.
