BMTC electric bus crashes into Vayu Vajra Bus in Bengaluru, several injured

Several people were injured after a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) electric bus rammed into the rear of a stationary Vayu Vajra airport bus near K.R. Circle in Bengaluru during the Saturday morning rush hour.
The impact severely damaged the front portion of the electric bus, leaving its driver critically injured and trapping him inside the cabin. Fire and Emergency Services personnel, along with police teams, carried out a rescue operation to free the driver before he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to BMTC officials, at least five passengers sustained injuries in the collision and were shifted to St. Martha's Hospital. One passenger remained trapped inside the mangled bus for nearly an hour before rescue teams managed to extricate her.
Preliminary findings suggest the accident may have been caused by a mechanical failure, though a technical inspection is underway to determine the exact cause.
The crash led to heavy traffic congestion around K.R. Circle as police diverted vehicles while cranes removed the damaged buses. Karnataka Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh and senior BMTC officials visited the injured at the hospital. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
