BJP to celebrate Bengal Foundation Day on June 20; PM Modi likely to visit Kolkata

The BJP will celebrate Bengal Foundation Day across West Bengal on June 20, commemorating the historic decision that ensured the state's inclusion in India during Partition. The party has planned events across districts to highlight Bengal’s cultural heritage, historical legacy and contribution to the nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kolkata as part of the celebrations, with the BJP preparing large-scale public programmes and outreach activities. Party leaders said the observance aims to honour Bengal’s identity and reinforce awareness of the state's historical significance.
The event is expected to carry political significance ahead of future electoral battles in the state. BJP leaders have described Bengal Foundation Day as an occasion to remember the sacrifices and efforts that helped preserve West Bengal as part of India in 1947.
State BJP units have been instructed to organise commemorative programmes, cultural events and public engagements across West Bengal. The celebrations are likely to see participation from senior party leaders, workers and citizens from different parts of the state.
