BJP MLA urges CM Yogi to address fire safety gaps in Noida, Ghaziabad

BJP MLA from Jewar Dhirendra Singh has urged the Uttar Pradesh chief minister to address critical shortcomings in fire safety infrastructure in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, citing recent fire incidents and the high concentration of high-rise residential and commercial buildings in the two districts.
During a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his residence in Lucknow on Friday, Singh submitted a memorandum seeking immediate and long-term measures to strengthen fire safety systems in high-rise areas, particularly in Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad.
“Availability of high-capacity fire tenders and hydraulic platforms (sky lifts) capable of reaching 30-40 floors is essential, along with mandatory inspection and certification of fire safety systems in all high-rise buildings,” Singh said.
Highlighting the risks posed by inadequate infrastructure, the MLA said thousands of families live in tall buildings where existing firefighting systems often fail to reach upper floors effectively, increasing the threat to life and property. He also called for strict enforcement of fire safety audits and stringent action against violations.
“Regular mock drills and awareness programmes for residents and RWAs must be ensured to improve preparedness,” he said.
Singh further stressed the need to strengthen the preparedness and response time of the fire department to deal with emergencies in densely populated high-rise clusters.
“The issue directly concerns the safety of lakhs of citizens, and therefore immediate as well as long-term policy interventions, along with effective implementation, are essential,” he added.
