Bihar’s renowned academician Professor Jitendra Nath passes away

Prof. Jitendra Nath, a respected figure in Bihar’s academic circles, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of profound influence through education, humility, and unwavering positivity.
Born on December 20, 1936, Prof. Nath embarked on his teaching journey in 1962 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at DAV College, Siwan.
He later joined Raj Narain College, Hajipur, a premier institution under B.R.A. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, where he served with distinction for decades in the English Department.
Known for his deep passion for literature and commitment to nurturing students, he inspired generations with insightful lectures and mentorship until his retirement in 1996. His career reflected a steadfast dedication to quality education in the heart of the Vaishali district.
In an era when many clung to possessions, he selflessly donated a portion of his land in Hela Bazar, Hajipur, to a long-time associate, showcasing his large-hearted compassion.
Residing in Nakhhas Chowk, he maintained a grounded lifestyle, often walking to and from college, even in scorching summers, to prioritise his children’s education, his sweat-soaked shirts bearing silent testimony to his resilience and values.
An inquisitive mind and perennial storyteller, he stayed remarkably informed about regional, national, and global affairs through conversations and radio, despite fading eyesight.
He shared timeless wisdom, often quoting Harivansh Rai Bachchan: Jo man ka ho wo accha, aur jo na ho wo aur bhi accha.
