Bhojshala dispute reaches Supreme Court as muslim side Challenges MP High Court verdict

The long-standing Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque dispute in Madhya Pradesh has reached the Supreme Court after the Muslim side filed a petition challenging the recent Madhya Pradesh High Court verdict.
The petition contests the High Court’s decision that recognized the Bhojshala complex in Dhar as a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati and altered the existing worship arrangements at the site.
The appeal has reportedly been filed through a Special Leave Petition (SLP) by Quazi Moinuddin, associated with the mosque side in the dispute.
The plea challenges findings of the High Court, including restrictions affecting Friday namaz and conclusions related to the historical character of the complex.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court had earlier delivered a significant judgment stating that the Bhojshala complex historically functioned as a Saraswati temple and held that the rights of Hindu worship at the site had continued over time.
The order also led to changes in administrative arrangements under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The case remains one of the country’s most sensitive religious and legal disputes, with both Hindu and Muslim groups maintaining different claims regarding the site's history and status.
The Supreme Court is now expected to examine the legal challenge and determine the next course of proceedings.
