Bangkok bar fire kills 27, leaves 22 critically injured in Thailand

At least 27 people were killed and 63 others injured, including 22 in critical condition, after a massive fire ripped through a crowded bar in Thailand's capital Bangkok, authorities said.
The blaze broke out late at night at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao bar in northern Bangkok. Firefighters brought the fire under control within a short time, but many patrons were trapped inside the building as thick smoke and flames spread rapidly.
According to Thai officials, several victims were found near the bar's restrooms after apparently trying to escape the fire. Preliminary investigations suggest the blaze may have started due to an electrical short circuit in a ceiling-mounted air-conditioning unit, although the exact cause remains under investigation.

Authorities are also probing reports that emergency exits were obstructed by furniture and storage items, hampering evacuation efforts and contributing to the high death toll. Most survivors suffered from smoke inhalation, while several sustained severe burn injuries.
Emergency responders and forensic teams continued operations at the site as officials worked to identify the victims. Thai authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident, including whether the venue complied with fire safety regulations.
The tragedy has once again raised concerns over fire safety standards at entertainment venues in Thailand, which has witnessed several deadly nightclub and bar fires over the past two decades.a
