Balrampur: Newborn boy, girl found abandoned in separate fields

Two newborn babies, a boy and a girl, were found abandoned in separate agricultural fields in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district on Thursday, police said.
In the first incident, a day-old baby boy wrapped in a white cloth was found in a sugarcane field near Mahadev Jamuni village under Tulsipur police station limits. Police were alerted by a local resident and immediately reached the spot to rescue the infant.
The baby was taken to the Community Health Centre in Tulsipur for initial treatment. Doctors later referred him to the Joint Hospital in Balrampur, where he is currently receiving medical care.
In a separate incident, another day-old newborn, a baby girl, was found wrapped in a white cloth in a paddy field in Kithura village under Shridattganj police station limits.
A police response team rescued the girl and shifted her to a hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.
Superintendent of Police Martand Prakash Singh said police have launched investigations into both incidents to determine how and why the newborns were abandoned. He assured that appropriate legal action would be taken against those found responsible.
Police are also expected to examine local information and other available evidence as part of efforts to establish the identity of the babies’ parents.
