Assembly Speaker Gupta stresses constitutional values at SAMVAAD
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Wednesday said “service to the nation must be anchored in an understanding of our constitutional journey and the institutions that safeguard it,” while inaugurating the Coffee Table Book Stall of the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat at SAMVAAD 2026.
It is the annual three-day flagship conclave organised by the NSS Unit of Hindu College, University of Delhi. The event was attended by the Principal, Vice Principal, senior faculty members and a large number of students of Hindu College. On the occasion, Gupta inaugurated the display of the commemorative publication “Shatabdi-Yatra: Vithalbhai Ki Gaurav Gatha”. Addressing students and faculty members, the Speaker emphasised that democracy thrives when young citizens engage meaningfully with its history and processes. He observed that the life of Vithalbhai Patel reflects principled leadership and unwavering commitment to parliamentary values.
The documentary screening attracted considerable interest, offering students visual insight into the legacy of Vithalbhai Patel and the growth of legislative institutions. On the occasion, Hindu College honoured the Speaker by presenting him with its commemorative coffee table book, “Virasat”, which reflects the institution’s distinguished legacy, academic journey, and contribution to nation-building.
During his visit, Gupta also toured the Indian Air Force stall organised at the venue.
The Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat, in association with Hindu College, set up a dedicated coffee-table book stall on the inaugural day of the conclave, alongside the screening of a documentary on the life and legacy of Veer Vithalbhai Patel.
The stall prominently featured the commemorative coffee-table book, along with other publications and informative material highlighting the institutional history, constitutional mandate, and legislative functioning of the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
The participation of the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat at SAMVAAD 2026 underscores its commitment to promoting legislative awareness, civic responsibility and democratic values among the younger generation.
