Assembly adjourned twice as BJP, AAP spar over teachers counting dogs claims

The Delhi Assembly was adjourned two times on the second day of the Winter Session on Tuesday, with the ruling BJP MLAs seeking an apology from the AAP members for “spreading lies” that directions were issued for the counting of stray dogs by the Government school teachers.
Speaker Vijender Gupta had a hard time controlling the protesting legislators before adjourning the House for 30 minutes, soon after the sitting started around 11 am.
During the first half session, the ruling party legislatures reached outside the Assembly premises to mark their protest. The BJP MLAs criticised Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal for his remarks alleging that the city Government school teachers were being engaged to count the stray dogs in the national Capital.
Meanwhile, a protest was also witnessed by the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs over the issue during the ongoing session. The BJP MLAs gathered outside the Delhi Assembly, holding banners and raising slogans against the AAP chief and demanding an apology for his remarks.
The ruling party targeted the opposition over the dog-counting allegation, while the AAP continued its attack on the Rekha Gupta Government over air pollution in the national capital.
The ruling party's legislature accused the AAP and Kejriwal of “insulting” teachers and “misleading” the people of Delhi by spreading what he called “false claims” that the Delhi government had deployed teachers for counting dogs.
“This is an outright lie. BJP MLAs demand that they apologise immediately, both on the floor of the House and to the nation. That is why we staged the protest,” they said during the protest.
