UP: Another accused arrested in Haryanvi singer Ankit Balyan murder case

Police have arrested another alleged conspirator in connection with the murder of Haryanvi singer Ankit Balyan in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, officials said on Thursday.
Shamli Superintendent of Police N P Singh said Rohit alias Ladla, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana, was arrested during a search operation in the city police station area on Wednesday evening.
According to the SP, Rohit was allegedly involved in the conspiracy and was a friend of Mohit, one of the accused who was killed in an encounter with police in Shamli.
Balyan was shot dead by unidentified assailants on August 26, 2026, shortly after he left a gym and was walking towards his car in Shamli. Police had initially registered a case against four unidentified persons in connection with the killing.
During the investigation, alleged shooters Sumit and Mohit were killed in separate encounters with police in Shamli district on August 31, officials said.
Police are continuing their search for three other alleged accused — Satyam Kadiyan, Aryan Sandhu and Rahul alias Bholu — who are all from Haryana.
A reward of Rs 1 lakh each has been announced for information leading to the arrest of the three absconding accused. Police have also begun proceedings to attach their properties, officials said. (with inputs from PTI)
