Andhra Pradesh school warden carries sick student 6 km on her back to hospital, wins hearts

A school warden in Andhra Pradesh's Parvathipuram Manyam district has earned widespread praise after carrying an ill student on her back for nearly 6 kilometres through hilly forest terrain to ensure she received timely medical treatment.
The warden, Kumburka Hemani, took the extraordinary step after finding that there was no road access or transport available to reach the remote tribal village where the student had fallen seriously ill with a high fever.
The Class 7 student, Vataka Bhuvaneswari, had developed severe fever and other health complications while staying at her native village during the holidays. Realising that every minute was critical, Hemani carried the child across rocky terrain until they reached the nearest motorable road, from where the student was taken by vehicle to a government hospital.
Doctors later confirmed that the timely intervention helped ensure the girl received the treatment she urgently needed. A video of Hemani's selfless act has gone viral on social media, drawing admiration from across the country.
While many have praised her compassion and dedication, the incident has also highlighted the lack of road connectivity and emergency healthcare access in remote tribal areas, prompting fresh calls for better infrastructure in such regions.
