Amreli shaken by repeated tremors; 14 quakes felt in 30 hours

Gujarat, known for its seismic sensitivity due to its geological conditions, once again experienced earthquake tremors, with the Savarkundla region of Amreli district witnessing continuous ground activity over the past 30 hours. In the Mitiala area and nearby villages, residents reported as many as 14 minor to moderate tremors, creating widespread panic among locals.
According to official data from the Gandhinagar-based Seismology Department, only one earthquake has been formally recorded. The main tremor occurred at 1.14 AM with a magnitude of 3.0. Local residents, on the other hand, reported additional tremors at 1.37 AM (magnitude 1.1) and at 8.58 AM (magnitude 1.5), following which frightened people rushed out of their homes.
Sources indicated that around eight tremors were felt in the district on the previous day. The Seismology Department officially confirmed one tremor with its epicentre near Vankiya village, approximately 43 kilometres from Amreli.
