Amazon to invest additional $13 billion in India’s AI and cloud infrastructure by 2030

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and announced plans to invest an additional USD 13 billion in India by 2030 to strengthen artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure.
During the meeting, Jassy reaffirmed Amazon’s long-term commitment to India, stating that the new investment will support the expansion of AI capabilities and cloud services across the country. The latest commitment will take Amazon’s total investment in India between 2026 and 2030 to USD 48 billion.
The investment will primarily be directed toward expanding the data centre capacity of Amazon Web Services in Mumbai and Hyderabad. The enhanced infrastructure is expected to provide startups, businesses and government organisations with access to advanced AI tools, custom AI chips, cloud technologies and developer services.
Amazon said the move would help accelerate innovation, improve digital capabilities and support India's growing technology ecosystem. The company aims to enable organisations to scale operations more efficiently while serving customers in domestic and global markets.
With the fresh investment announcement, Amazon’s cumulative investments in India from 2010 to 2030 are expected to exceed USD 88 billion, highlighting the country’s importance in the company’s global growth strategy.
