ALIMCO-Honda India Foundation partnership strengthens assistive-device access
Emphasising the need for a whole-of-society approach towards building an inclusive and accessible India, Ms Manmeet Kaur Nanda, Additional Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Divyasha-Vayoshri Kendra (PMDVK) at Honda Samajik Vikas Kendra, Naurangpur, Manesar, on Wednesday.
The new PMDVK has been established through the partnership between the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and Honda India Foundation. The centre aims to strengthen access to assistive devices, assessment, rehabilitation and related services for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Nanda appreciated the ten-year partnership between ALIMCO and Honda India Foundation.
She described the new, larger and better-equipped centre as a strong example of Government-corporate collaboration through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
She emphasised that while Government schemes provide reach and scale, partnerships with corporates, NGOs, civil society and industry bring innovation, depth and last-mile connect.
She also called upon all stakeholders to contribute towards building a “Sugamya Viksit Bharat.”
Ms Nanda highlighted the significance of 2026, which marks ten years of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, as well as twenty years of India’s association with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Focus on Last-Mile Delivery
Shri Praveen Kumar, CMD, ALIMCO, underscored the importance of the organisation’s long-standing association with Honda India Foundation.
He reaffirmed ALIMCO’s commitment to taking assistive technology and rehabilitation services closer to beneficiaries through stronger last-mile delivery and innovative partnerships.
The PMDVK at Manesar brings assistive device support, assessment, rehabilitation and related services under one platform. The centre is expected to support more than 15,000 beneficiaries annually, including Divyangjan and senior citizens.
Shri Vinay Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation, reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to meaningful CSR partnerships. He appreciated ALIMCO’s expertise and outreach in enabling persons with disabilities and senior citizens to live with greater dignity, independence and participation.
Assistive Devices Distributed to Beneficiaries
Following the inauguration, officials and guests took part in a walk-through of the PMDVK and Honda Samajik Vikas Kendra facilities. The programme was also followed by the distribution of assistive devices to beneficiaries.
The initiative reflects the shared commitment of ALIMCO and Honda India Foundation towards strengthening accessibility, rehabilitation and assistive-technology support. It also seeks to advance the vision of building an inclusive and truly Viksit Bharat.
