Abhishek Banerjee questioned by Bengal CID in case over alleged inflammatory election statements

Trinamool Congress national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee was questioned by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a case related to alleged inflammatory statements made during election campaigns.
The questioning forms part of an ongoing investigation into complaints that his public remarks may have been provocative in nature and had the potential to disturb public order and communal harmony during the electoral process.
According to official sources, the CID has been examining speeches and statements attributed to Banerjee during the election period as part of its broader probe into politically sensitive comments made by leaders across parties.
The case stems from a complaint filed earlier, following which law enforcement authorities registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the content of campaign speeches. The allegations focus on whether the statements crossed legal limits under election conduct and public order laws.
Banerjee’s questioning by the CID is part of routine investigative procedures to gather clarifications and verify context behind the remarks under scrutiny.
The investigation is currently underway, and further developments are expected as the CID continues to record statements and examine evidence related to the case
