'A terrorist is a terrorist': India calls for United Global action against terrorism at UN

India has reiterated its uncompromising stand against terrorism at the United Nations, urging the international community to adopt a unified, zero-tolerance approach to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.
Speaking during the adoption of the Ninth Review of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, stressed that terrorism can never be justified, regardless of political, ideological, or strategic reasons.
Declaring that "a terrorist is a terrorist," Harish said the world must work together to root out the "murderous ideology" behind terrorism instead of attempting to justify or rationalise such acts.
Recalling India's long experience with cross-border terrorism, he said the country has paid a heavy price in terms of lives lost and communities affected, shaping its firm position on combating terrorism.
India also renewed its call for the early adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT), arguing that the absence of a universally accepted legal framework continues to weaken global counterterrorism efforts.
The country urged UN member states to strengthen international cooperation, curb terror financing, prevent the misuse of emerging technologies by terrorist groups, and demonstrate greater political will to combat terrorism collectively.
