8 Killed, 16 injured as passenger bus plunges into gorge in Nepal

At least eight people were killed and 16 others injured after a passenger bus plunged into a deep gorge in Nepal’s Kavrepalanchok District on Friday, police said.
The accident occurred near Selfie Hillock at Buchchakot along the Banepa-Bardibas (BP) Highway, around 60 kilometres east of Kathmandu. The bus was travelling from Banepa to Sungure in Roshi Rural Municipality when it lost control and fell nearly 200 metres down a hillside.
According to authorities, 24 passengers were on board at the time of the accident. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and transported the injured to Dhulikhel Hospital for treatment.
Officials said the cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances that led to the crash.
Road accidents are common in Nepal's mountainous regions, where difficult terrain, narrow roads and challenging weather conditions often contribute to fatal incidents.
