5 new Supreme Court Judges take oath

Five newly appointed judges took oath as judges of the Supreme Court of India on Monday, formally joining the apex court and taking its working strength to 37.
The oath ceremony marks the completion of their elevation following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The Centre approved the appointments within days.
The newly sworn-in judges include four Chief Justices of High Courts—Justice Sheel Nagu, Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, and Justice Arun Palli—along with senior advocate Venkita Subramani Mohana.
With their induction, the Supreme Court is now functioning at near-full strength, with only one vacancy remaining against the sanctioned strength of 38 judges.
The expansion is expected to improve judicial efficiency, ease case pendency, and strengthen the court’s capacity to form larger Constitution Benches for key constitutional matters.
