23-year-old motorcyclist dies in crash

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed and another man injured after a collision involving two cars and a motorcycle in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka area on Tuesday morning. The crash, which led to a pile-up on a busy road, is being investigated for possible negligence and traffic violations.
Police said the accident was reported at the Dwarka South police station at 11.57 am. A police team rushed to the spot and found a private SUV, a cab, and a motorcycle involved in the collision. The motorcycle rider, identified as Sahil Dhaneshra (23), had suffered critical injuries and was found unconscious at the scene.
According to a police officer, Sahil had already succumbed to his injuries by the time officers reached the spot. His body was shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. The cab driver, identified as Ajit Singh, sustained injuries in the incident and was immediately taken to Indira Gandhi International Hospital for treatment. Police said his condition is stable and he is undergoing medical care. No other injuries were reported.
During verification at the spot, police found that the driver of the SUV, identified as Akshatra Singh (19), did not possess a valid driving licence. The police said that the SUV driver was arrested at the scene for further questioning. Police are examining his role in the crash and whether his lack of a valid licence contributed to the fatal accident. “According to initial findings, the SUV was coming from the direction of a gurdwara, while the motorcycle was approaching from the opposite side. After colliding with the motorcycle, the SUV lost control and went on to hit a cab that was parked on the roadside,” the officer said.
Following the crash, a crime team was called to the spot to carry out a detailed inspection. Forensic examination of the accident site was conducted to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine factors such as speed, point of impact, and road conditions at the time of the collision. All three vehicles — the SUV, the cab, and the motorcycle — have been impounded for further investigation, police said.
