20,000 kids receive free CBSE schooling in Maharashtra

At a time when quality education is becoming increasingly expensive for ordinary families, a Maharashtra-based educational trust is demonstrating that world-class schooling can be made accessible to all. The Jijau Educational and Social Organisation, founded by social activist and educationist Nilesh Sambare, is successfully running 10 CBSE English-medium schools across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Palghar district, providing completely free education to nearly 20,000 students.
The initiative began in 2014 with the establishment of its first school in Zhadpoli. Over the years, the network has expanded to ten locations, including Brahmanpada, Chalatwad, Ambadi, Khodala, Zhap, Gotheghar, Mokhada, Kasara, and Dolkhamb. Students at these schools are not charged any tuition fees and also receive free textbooks, educational materials, and school bus transportation.
A key highlight of the Jijau model is its focus on competitive exam preparation. From Class IX onwards, students receive specialised coaching for NEET and JEE examinations from experienced faculty, including IIT-trained teachers.
The organisation further strengthens educational access by distributing around 3.5 million books and notebooks annually. “Education should never depend on a family’s income. Every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn and excel,” said Nilesh Sambare.
With plans to establish 50 more schools across the Konkan region, the Jijau Educational and Social Organisation is emerging as a powerful example of education-driven social transformation and inclusive development.
