The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha today targeted the Central government on the Waqf Amendment Bill. JMM General Secretary cum Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said in a press conference here on Thursday that the BJP and its government have chosen this time to spread religious frenzy when Chaitra Navratri is going on. They want to create religious frenzy in the country. But we will not let the Center take even an inch of the Waqf land or property in Jharkhand.
Bhattacharya said that the basic spirit of the Constitution is that we respect all religions. But, in the last 10 years it is being spoiled. Constitutional institutions are being hurt. The court is also being obstructed. He said that the social harmony of the country is being ruined. Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb is being broken. When we donate any land, it is used according to its religion. Temples-monasteries in Hindus, Waqf in Muslims, similarly people of Sikh and Buddhist religion donate. Every shrine board, Waqf has its own work.
The JMM leader said that there is a description of nine lakh properties of the Waqf Board. The game of the Center starts from here. He said that the Center has its eyes on these properties. He further said, how land is being distributed to industrialist friends today is not hidden from anyone. China has occupied our land. There is no discussion about it. Land is a state subject. There is a Waqf Board in every state. Its CEO is the state government. The government has control over it.
He further said that since this kind of land has to be given to someone else, there has been talk of bringing the Waqf Amendment Bill. He said that land disputes come under the state government. But, now the Central government wants to bring this matter under its control.
He said that the Center has chosen the time of Chaitra Navratri to spread religious frenzy. So that religious frenzy can be created in the country. He said that we will not accept this Bill at all. But, BJP wants to create a situation of confrontation.
