In a major success for security forces, two women Naxalites, each carrying a bounty of ?14 lakh, were gunned down in an encounter in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandla district on Wednesday morning. The gunfight took place within the Bichhiya police station limits. Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana has confirmed the incident.
Security forces recovered a self-loading rifle (SLR), a single-shot rifle, a wireless set, and other essential items from the site. A search operation is ongoing in the surrounding forest areas to track down other Naxal operatives.
An official from the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters stated that the slain women were key operatives of the Bhoramdev Area Committee, part of the KB (Kanha-Bhoramdev) Division under the MMC (Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh) Maoist zone.
Acting on intelligence inputs regarding Maoist presence in the Mundidadar-Ganeridadar-Parsatola forest region of Kanha National Park, security personnel launched a search operation. Upon encountering the forces, the Naxalites opened indiscriminate fire, attempting to cause casualties and seize weapons. In retaliation, security forces neutralized two uniformed female Maoists.
One of the slain Naxalites was identified as Mamta alias Ramabai, an Area Committee Member (ACM) and wife of Rakesh OD, a Senior Zonal Committee Member (SZCM) of the KB Division. She was a resident of Murkudi village under the Karochi police station in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district. A single-shot rifle was recovered from her possession.
The second Naxalite was identified as Pramila alias Mase Mandavi, also an ACM of the Bhoramdev Area Committee. She hailed from Paligudhem village under Chintalnar police station limits in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. An SLR rifle was found with her.
According to officials, this was the second major anti-Naxal operation in the state in the past six weeks, bringing the total number of Maoists killed to six during this period.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav praised the security forces for their bravery, confirming that both slain Naxalites carried a ?14 lakh bounty each.
“I congratulate all the jawans for their courage and dedication. This success will strengthen our resolve to eradicate the Naxal problem completely by March 2026, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” Yadav stated.
He further assured that both the country and Madhya Pradesh will soon be completely free from terrorism, Naxalism, and extremism.
