In a trial overseen by Principal District Judge Nalin Kumar, two individuals have been convicted for committing a robbery in broad daylight. Each has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 25,000.
The incident took place on 28 July 2016. As per the First Information Report (FIR) filed, Manoj Yadav, a resident of Utari Road, reported that he was travelling home from his relative Shivdutt Yadav's house in Majhigawan village but couldn't find any transport. When he arrived at the Kandi Bazaar bus stand, he came across two men with a red motorcycle. He asked them for a lift, and they agreed to take him for Rs. 500. They headed towards Majhiawan, but near Ghoradag Mod, one of the men held a pistol to Manoj Yadav's head and stole Rs. 1,110 and two Samsung mobile phones. When Yadav spotted an approaching police vehicle, he shouted for help, which led to the arrest of the two men after a pursuit.
Following the presentation of evidence and the testimonies of nine witnesses in court, the two defendants, Dhananjay Kumar Ravi and Sunil Kumar, both residents of Kandi town within the Kandi Police Station's jurisdiction, were found guilty under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They have each been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 25,000.
