Tight security arrangements in place for Ram Navmi in Garhwa

Sunday, 06 April 2025 | PNS | Garhwa

In preparation for the Ram Navami festival, robust security measures are being put in place across the Garhwa district. This year, the police are implementing an innovative and advanced technological approach known as the "Third Eye", which involves using drones to monitor the festival.

The Ram Navami festival is celebrated annually in Garhwa with considerable enthusiasm. This year, however, the police have introduced additional measures to bolster security arrangements. Special preparations have been made across all police station jurisdictions and throughout the city to ensure safety during the festivities.

While security arrangements are in place for the organisation of Akharas (traditional wrestling arenas), the police are particularly focused on deterring disruptive elements. To address this, they are implementing the "Third Eye" strategy. According to the police, the "Third Eye" refers to drones that will provide aerial surveillance of worship sites and various parts of the city. These drones will enable the police to identify and promptly address any suspicious activities conducted by troublemakers. This action has been taken because the Garhwa district has been classified as highly sensitive in recent years due to instances of communal violence. Maintaining peace during religious events such as Ram Navami is therefore of utmost importance. This year, the police have further intensified security measures throughout the district.

In addition to drones, a significant police force has been deployed throughout the Garhwa district. CCTV cameras and other technological resources have also been strategically positioned to prevent and manage any potential adverse situations. Superintendent of Police Deepak Pandey stated that special measures are being taken to ensure the peaceful completion of the Ram Navami Puja. He appealed to residents to remove any building materials or items from their rooftops until after the festival. He added that the police are using drones to maintain enhanced security and that a flag march will be conducted. Garhwa DC Shekhar Jamuar reported that comprehensive security arrangements are in place for the Ram Navami Puja in Garhwa district. The district is under surveillance via CCTV and drone cameras, and magistrates have been deployed to maintain vigilance over disruptive elements, ensuring that residents can celebrate the festival joyfully.
