A couple and their daughter lost their lives, while two other family members sustained injuries after their speeding car crashed into a parked truck in Maihar district, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Maihar Kotwali police station in-charge Animesh Dwivedi stated that the accident occurred around 1:30 PM when the family was returning to Mumbai after attending the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to a fatal collision with a stationary truck near Narora village on National Highway 30, approximately 20 km from the district headquarters.
Three occupants of the car died on the spot, identified as Sunil Kumar Upadhyay (62), his wife Sarojita Upadhyay (56), and their daughter Sneha Upadhyay (28). The two injured family members were rushed to the district hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
Authorities have registered a case, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
