Sangam Nose favorite spot for holy dip

Wednesday, 15 January 2025 | PNS | Mahakumbh Nagar

On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti on Tuesday, millions of devotees participated in the first Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh 2025, taking holy dips at the sacred Triveni Sangam.

The primary focus of the devotees was the Sangam Nose, where saints and spiritual leaders from various akharas also performed their ritual baths.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the mechanical branch of Irrigation Department, this seamless coexistence of saints and devotees at the Sangam Nose became a reality. In just 85 days, the team worked round-the-clock in three shifts to expand 26 hectares of land between the Shastri Bridge and Sangam Nose, with two hectares exclusively added at the Sangam Nose.

This meticulous planning and execution allowed saints and devotees to share the sacred experience of the Amrit Snan harmoniously, highlighting the exceptional arrangements made for this grand spiritual event.

On January 13, the first bathing festival of Poush Purnima, and January 14, the first Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh 2025, more than three crore devotees took a holy dip. Most devotees prioritised bathing at the Sangam Nose, with crowds gathering from late at night. It is estimated that over three lakh people bathed at the Sangam Nose every hour during the peak time.
