Governor Santosh Gangwar today said that the martyrdom of Randhir Verma is imprinted in the history of the country, it cannot be forgotten. When Rita Verma was elected to the Lok Sabha, she had narrated stories of Randhir Verma's martyrdom. His sacrifice is worth remembering and it is the history of the country. The Governor said this while addressing the 34th martyrdom ceremony of Randhir Prasad Verma organized at Randhir Verma Chowk on Friday.
He said, "Ever since I have come to this state, I have heard stories of freedom fighters, which happen to be important for a country's independence. There were many incidents during that period and those efforts were done to save the country. Randhir Verma's sacrifice will be written in history as heros like him can only imagine sacrificing life for the country as at that time terrorists were dominating the entire country."
Randhir Verma sacrificed his life to stop them. Due to this extraordinary incident, for the first time the Government of India honoured a non-military person with the Ashok Chakra. Postage stamps were issued in their names. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described all the martyrs as the inspiration of the nation. Randhir Verma has done the work of making Swami Dayanand's national message alive. He advised youth to take inspiration from the sacrifice of Randhir Verma as he worked for the benefit of the country. The people here have done the work of changing the ideologies about Jharkhand and Bihar. Governor said, our priority should be the interest of the country.
Earlier, Governor Gangwar, wife of the martyr Prof. Rita Verma, Rajya Sabha member Deepak Prakash, MP Dhulu Mahato, MLA Raj Sinha, Ragini Singh, Deputy Commissioner Madhavi Mishra and SSP Hrideep P Janardhanan paid their tribute by laying wreaths at the Randhir Verma memorial.
Addressing the function, Prof. Verma said that even today people remember the martyrdom of martyr Randhir with love. Films like Gangs of Wasseypur have spoiled the image of Dhanbad. The people here are very good and have respect for the martyr's family . When she got the ticket after the sacrifice of SP Randhir Verma, she had no knowledge of politics but people chose me to represent them . The people of Dhanbad have tied me in the bond of love. I am grateful to Dhanbad till my death. She said that she did not have money for the renovation of the Randhir Verma memorial site. When he asked for help, Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash readily agreed and donated money from his own pocket. She expressed his gratitude to Deepak Prakash and the people of Dhanbad for their support.
