The residents of Jharkhand may have some relief from the heat in the next few days as a change in the weather with light to moderate rain in various parts of the State is being predicted till March 22.
The Meteorological Centre, Ranchi has issued a yellow warning for March 20 for the northern parts of the State signifying thunderstorms and lightning accompanied with gusty winds with speed of up to 30- 40 km per hour. An orange alert has been issued for the southern and adjoining central regions stating thunderstorm and lighting as well as gusty winds with a speed of approximately 40- 50 per hour. The weathermen have stated that isolated parts of southern Jharkhand are likely to witness hailstorms as well.
For March 21, an orange alert has been issued for the entire State. Southern and adjoining central parts may witness thunderstorms and lighting accompanied with gusty winds with a speed of 50- 60 km per hour as well as hailstorm. Parts of the northern regions will experience thunderstorm and lighting activity with wind speed of up to 40- 50 km per hour.
IMD has issued a yellow alert for March 22 for the southern, central and adjoining north east Jharkhand for thunderstorm, lighting, and gusty winds with a speed of approximately 40- 50 km per hour. Isolated places in the north western parts of the State may experience thunderstorm and lighting activity as well as winds of up to 30- 40 km per hour.
“The change is weather is due to the incoming moisture from the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, the conditions in the State will be favourable for thunderstorm and hailstorm activities. In the pre monsoon period, thunderstorms when accompanied with gusty winds may also become quite severe and can cause trees and poles to fall. The maximum impact of this change in the weather will be seen on March 20 and March 21 and the maximum temperature will also come down. Residents are advised to stay indoors, stand away from trees and electric poles,” said Director MET Centre, Ranchi Abhishek Anand.
From March 24 onwards, the weather conditions will be back to normal across the State with a rise in the temperature levels.
As per the data released by the MET Centre, Ranchi on Wednesday, in the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature in the State was recorded in Chaibasa at 38.4 degree Celsius which is 3.6 degrees above normal followed by Bokaro at 37.2 degree Celsius which is 3.4 notches above normal. The State capital was recorded at 32.7 degree Celsius. Jamshedpur and Daltonganj were observed at 37 and 35.8 degree Celsius which is 1.6 and 1.2 degrees above normal respectively.
On March 20 the maximum temperature in Ranchi is predicted to be at 31 degree Celsius which may go down to 27 degrees by March 22 while March 23 is expected to be at 30 degree Celsius.
